“They are good guys. Technically competent and easy to work with.”
David used Layer3 to set up Maven’s own, locally hosted version of Microsoft’s Office systems, giving Maven a private cloud service similar to Office365.
He says the move has sped up the Office systems, provides better support for the company’s Macs and includes Microsoft’s SharePoint, which offers the Maven team a valuable ability to collaborate on documents and projects.
“Layer3 did an excellent job taking a popular and mainstream system and configuring and delivering it the way we want it,” David says.
“It’s a solution dedicated to us – we can work anywhere, any time and on any device – and we’re very comfortable with what they have done for us.”
Layer3’s Hayden Kirk says Maven’s servers are hosted at the solution provider’s Wellington offices. They comprise the SharePoint server and servers for Exchange, Web Apps, Firewalls and the Domain.
Other servers can be developed as and when needed to accommodate Maven’s growth or changing requirements, Hayden says.
“We’ve mimicked Office 365’s functionality so the systems perform identically, and with the added advantage of local hosting, increased performance speeds and reducing data costs.”
Hayden says that other than a slightly different user interface, developed specifically for Maven, the average user wouldn’t know the difference between Microsoft’s product and the Kiwi version.
“It’s about delivering a robust, cost-effective cloud-based solution that works for our customers”.
“Every company has different needs. We adapt systems to meet those needs.”
