  • Cloud Office v1 Basics (Metro Interface/Start Menu)


Accessing applications are slightly different on Server 2012 R2 / Windows8.1. When you first sign on, you will be presented with a new Metro interface. The metro interface is mainly designed for tablet computers, but can also be used as a very quick way of accessing applications.

Quickly Accessing Applications

In Windows Vista/7, you click on the start menu and go through your program list to find applications. In Server 2012 / Windows8 you now do this through the Metro interface.

There are two ways to find applications in Metro


  1. From the Metro interface, start typing your application
  2. As you are typing, your application should pop-up
  3. Now select the application

Finding Applications

You can also find applications like you did in Windows Vista/7.

  1. Right-click on the Metro interface and click All Apps down in the right-hand corner
  2. Now you will see all the applications on your computer. You can use the scroll wheel on your mouse to find additional applications
